Furniture emission testing for Romania
LIFA investigated substituted furniture-board resin for a Romanian buyer and qualified replacement factories after chamber testing.

What needed to change?
A chamber test showed formaldehyde emissions of 0.16 mg/m³; above the E1 limit (≤0.124 mg/m³); blocking entry to a major EU retail chain.
How LIFA managed the work
We tested boards from the current factory and 4 alternatives in an accredited chamber.
We identified urea-formaldehyde resin substitution in board production.
We qualified 2 factories using E1-certified board with full chain documentation.
We implemented quarterly emission testing on the product range.
Range re-sourced and passed at 0.09-0.11 mg/m³; EU retail contract signed; quarterly testing maintains the certification.
